DINK

From Jake

I'm so excited to formally introduce the DINK! This one is long overdue. I'm an avid fisherman, and in that world when you unintentionally catch a small fish (usually a bass) they are called "dinks". Who knows where the term came from but I always thought it was funny. Fast forward to the Dunk becoming a real yoyo, Dink and Doink immediately seemed like perfect names for the lineup (more on Doink soon 👀). CJ and I started playing with the idea of a miniature sized Dunk. We quickly realized stainless steel would be the perfect material for a yoyo this size. There are plenty of undersized colorful chunky aluminum yoyos on the market, and that's not what we had in mind. SS allowed us to go extra thin on everything and create a super strong and futuristic looking yoyo. The raw stainless makes the yoyo look more like a tool or a piece of a machine than a toy. It retains the signature Dunk profile and inner cup bump while at the same time looking unique from anything else we've made. In my 20 years of yoyoing, mini size yoyos have always appealed to me, but I've found that they often end up collecting dust in my collection. They play noticeably worse than their big brothers and they feel like a novelty, one which wears off quickly. After nearly one full year of testing this yoyo, far longer than we've ever tested any yoyo before production, I can confidently say the Dink holds up and holds it's own. Upon handing it to players at contests, the common refrain was "it actually plays so well!", confirming my belief that many players have negative preconceived notions when it comes to tiny yoyos. The Dink has made me rethink these negative assumptions, and I think it will make you do the same. I found myself grabbing it to learn 3.0 hooks this past summer, the size made them easier. For proficient or advanced players it lends itself well to dense tricks and short string tech, while beginners will appreciate it for learning chopsticks, and as a tool to improve accuracy and promote good form (it will let you know if your breakaway sucks). It's durable, beautiful, and plays unlike anything else in the Dunk lineup.
